Updates 2004

- 2 new pics of the new Tails plushie uploaded.
- Updated the url to Kawaii Kitsune on the Links Page.
Jul 17th
- Walkthroughs
- Sonic Advance 2
- Removed the script for collapsing the table of contents since it only works in IE (if IE supported DOM2 like every other browser, this wouldn't be a problem)
- Redid the FAQ section. It now uses CSS2 line breaks to separate different questions. Literally every browser still around except IE supports CSS2. It's still somewhat readable in IE, although not as organized. The page now complies with XHTML 1.1
- Fixed a few typos in the Sonic Advance 3 Walkthrough
- Plush Submissions
- Fixed some meta info that wasn't replaced when copying and modifying files.
- Added a section for SlyFox and 11 images.

- Fixed a broken image in the win screen for Kitsune Lights.
- Changed the win screen image to inline in order for it to align properly.
- Added Images to the XHTML Tutorial's index.
- Links Page
- Removed a few sites. Affiliated sites will never be removed unless they refuse to return the linkage. Non-affiliated sites (one-way linking) that I added without even knowing the maintainer may be removed at any time (remember, the links page used to be a page of bookmarked favorite sites).

- Removed Shadow of a Hedgehog (non-affiliated)
- Removed Sonic Dash (non-affiliated)
- Removed Sonic Cult (non-affiliated)
Jul 2nd

- Fixed a bug in modes larger than 4x4 where some surrounding pieces on the sides weren't being inverted.
- Optimized the functions with Math.floor and changed boolean values to 1 and 0.
- Added a new affiliate icon to the Links Page. This is the first icon made just for the Tails Archive Message Board.
- Fixed the bad homepage file. Uploading the Kitsune Lights updates overwrote the wrong directory due to an FTP bug.
Jun 19th
- XHTML Tutorial (Page 1)
- Added highlight colors whenever talking about a tag or attribute.
- Fixed the references to tags in the syntax examples. They didn't match when I chose to explain the syntax instead of explaining real tags.
- Explained what empty tags were early on.
- Added a section about block and inline tags. This was explained in the CSS page, but that page is a mess all of it's own.
- Completed the entire Page with the organized fieldset layout.
Jun 13th
- Cleaned up the GBA / DS board at the Tails Archive Message Board.
- XHTML Tutorial
- The HTML Tutorial is now called the XHTML Tutorial
- The html directory has been renamed to xhtml
- Added more padding and margin values to the CSS file.
- Page 1
- Added an intro that explained the difference and relationship between HTML and XHTML.
- Reworded the first few paragraphs
- The first few paragraphs are now neatly organized using <fieldset> and <legend> tags. The flow of text, bold headings, and example boxes created an unapealing mess.
- Used syntax examples rather than try to introduce a new tag and syntax all in one example.
- Created internal links to the different sections from the table of contents
Jun 5th
- Fan Pages
- Simplified the page using an ordinary table (using <hr /> tags in the cells of the old page made a mess).
- Added a column for the latest update in each sub-section.
- Added new classes to the gallery.css file and used it for this and the other section index pages.
- Added more info to the submission guidelines of the Plush Gallery.
- HTML Tutorial

- Added pseudo-elements and selectors on Page 4 (CSS)

- Added a Help Page to Kitsune Lights
- Added a heading title to the HTML Tutorial
- Cleaned up the PS2 / XBox / PSP forum on the Tails Archive Message Board
May 20th
- Digibase Server
- The site has been down for some time due to the server being upgraded to Linux. This should reduce future downtimes as well as add performance and stability
- Files with the .htm extension don't have PHP enabled, so you may see a "?>" at the top of some pages since I had to echo the XML Declaration in the past. I'm working on updating all these pages so they'll view properly as well as validation.
- Tails Games
- Kitsune Lights
- Used bitwise operators in the equations to detect valid pieces
- Simplified the check() function.
- The Tornado and Sonic & Tails sliding puzzles are now updated with the same optimizations as the Tails Sliding Puzzle
- Added 2 new fanart pics to Miles' Fanart
- Added a logo for Bluehog's Gaming Studio to the Links Page.
May 15th
- Tails Sliding Puzzle
- This game is now available again
- Got rid of the hard-coded possible allowed values for each piece you click.
- Optimized the sweep() function. It detects if the clicked piece is within one horizontal or vertical space of a column / row
- Cleaned up the scramble() function. The page loads about 8 times faster in Internet Explorer and 5 times faster in Mozilla. IE has the faster results when scrambling. But Mozilla will let you watch the the scrambling process piece by piece (much slower though).
- When you win and you hit the scramble button, the page will refresh. This prevents the problem of trying to scramble pieces that aren't there (replaced by the Win screen). I tried making a function to reset the innerHTML of the main div but IE couldn't handle it (Mozilla was fine though, go figure).
- Plush Page
- New user Buck 1 with 1 Tails plushie.
- Made modifications to the global CSS file used in all galleries on the Fan Pages
- Did some heavy cleanup on the Tails Archive Message Board. The last 3 boards in the Gaming category have been fully inspected for spam and I removed several hundred posts and a few topics that went off course.
May 1st
- Some server problems caused pages to bring up a "save as" box when clicking links but it's fixed now.
- Tails Adventure Password Generator
- Found a bug when adding the "Extra Speed" item. The calculated checksum value was off (must have been a typo since the older versions never had that problem).
- Some problems have been found when using Green Forest in passwords. It seems it uses another checksum if-else function type. It's not a Type 2 or Type 3. This seems to be a Type 6. I'm searching and verifying other items with the same assumed checksum calculation to see if any others are using this and I've yet to find anything.
- HTML Tutorial
- Added a section about the heading tags on Page 1
- Added info about the border attribute for the <img /> tag on Page 2.
- Created Page 4 to explain CSS.
- Created a new example box for the <pre> tag. Literal examples (that you can copy and paste) will remain in blue and now syntax examples will be in red.

- File size is now a little over 8 kb
Apr 10th
- Downloads Page
- Redid the entire page with a new combination of CSS and tables.
- Removed things such as Mugen (due to ownership reasons and also because I can't play it in Windows XP).
- Mascots

- All mascots have been updated with the new site url and forum in the contact info
- Added screenshots for each mascot.
- Added a section for the final boss in the Sonic Advance 3 Walkthrough
- Fan Stuff
- Web Development

- Made the HTML tutorial compatible for XHTML (I haven't decided which I'm making the tutorial about yet)
- Links Page
- Fixed the links to Prower.org and Prower Power. Last week's update had them mixed up.
- Removed Miles' Site (old Prower.org site)
- Added the new url to Tails Zoom
Apr 2nd
- Fan Stuff
- Fanart
- Deleted the Fanart.css file shared by all fanart pages.
- Changed the thumbnail naming method by adding an "f" before the image number (f is for fanart)
- Created a gallery.css file for all Fan pages
- Plush Page
- Made a directory for my plushies
- Shares the gallery.css file with the fanart
- Thumbnail naming method is similar to fanart's except uses a "p" instead of an "f".
- Links Page
Mar 25th
- Gamedata Page (not linked yet)
- Project Emerald
- When converting the XHTML 1.1, the W3 validator picked up over 800 errors in the page (it's very picky and I had capital html tags throughout the page). I'll be redoing the page.
- Made directories to sort each emerald set by game rather than color
- Renamed the emeralds for a new naming scheme for the game sorting
- Added some Sonic Advance 3 emeralds
- Since the conversion isn't complete (I'm listing the emeralds in the order you collect them in the game, which I don't have memorized for all of them), the new Emerald page isn't uploaded yet.
- Sonic Advance 3 Walkthrough
- Yes, you read right. I started a Sonic Advance 3 guide.
- Listed chao locations for the first 4 zones (more on the way)
- Added screenshots and strategies for bosses
- Explained the special stage and adventure field details
March 20th
- Games Page
- Tails Sliding Puzzle
- Started remaking the page foroptimization and compatibility
- Used CSS instead of tables for the layout
- Wrote the images using javascript to simplify recurring data
- Simplified the functions for deciding which pieces you can move. Instead of 16 if() statements, it's based on forumlas
- Page is now 2.90 kb (still needs to implement the scramble feature).
- Added another Tails avatar to the Pics Page.
Mar 13th
- Removed the scrolling Tails image on the Home Page.
- Created a /gamedata directory. It will be like the old /games directory but I'll be keeping the Tails game pics here and move the Tails Adventure Password Generator to the /re directory, where all the Reverse Engineering projects will go. The javascript games will also be moved to another place (don't know where yet).
- Moved all the Tails pics from /other to here
- Added a Sonic Advance 3 Tails image to the pics.
- Links Page
- Uploaded the links page and all the affiliate images
- Dropped the logo page since it was never really used.
- The Sonic Advance 3 pic is listed in the available avatars for Tails Archive Message Board.
Mar 8th
- Techsonic (the place that was hosting me) had funding problems due to the Google Ads system refusing to pay up. It took awhile, but The Tails Archive has moved to Digibase. Currently most of the pages are down and need to be edited to accomodate the change in paths. Here's the current progress and plans:
- Updates pages are up
- Fan Stuff
- All Fanart has been uploaded to the Fanart Page
- Added a new image to Manic's Fanart
- Plushies
- Tails plushies were moved to Fan Stuff. It will be a place to submit pics of your collection.
- The section must be redone due to some layout bugs.
- The plush section on the homepage will be available for something else, but I haven't decided what (trying to group things together in order to remodel the place with a navigation system).
Feb 24th
- Updates were delayed last week due to server software changes
- Removed the Polls area on the Homepage and replaced it with a Test Section.
- Moved the old Test Page there and renamed it
- Created a test page for the CSS2 pseudo-elements :before and :after
- Created an IE6 and Mozilla 1.6 CSS2 compatibility table
- Added 3 new pics to Manic's Fanart
- Games Page
- Kitsune Lights
- Fixed an alignment problem for non-IE browsers.
- Changed the image display to block
- Simplified some IF statements with some conditional operators
- Fixed a checkbox problem. When unchecking an item that would cause an invalid password when unchecked, hitting cancel would keep the box unchecked instead of checking it.
Feb 15th
- Fanart Page
- Links Page
- Removed Bluehog United. He removed it but he plans on starting a new site soon
- Removed Sws2b due to a mass member deletion that doesn't seem to be an accident.
Feb 6th
- Megaman Stuff
- Megaman X Password Generator
- Added support for Hearts, Sub-Tanks, and Capsules
- Removed some unused functions and fixed some bugs.
- The script is now completely working and verified, but the layout is incomplete.
- Megaman X2 Password Generator
- Fixed a typo in the script that would call the wrong function and could potentially give an invalid password.
- Fixed a GUI hole. Selecting New Game would reset and disable some checkboxes and pulldowns. But turning New Game off didn't reenable them.
- Removed some functions and used the conditional and bitwise operators instead.
- Page is 1.7 kb smaller
- Changed the date format on the Old Updates Pages to the international format
Jan 30th
- Home Page
- Fixed a date bug
- Removed the Polls Page since the forum has plenty of polls that are still current.
- Other Page
- Megaman Stuff
- Fixed a bug on the Megaman 2 Password Generator. Rows in the main table were spaced improperly due to an implementation in the XHTML doctype that Mozilla implements (Internet Explorer fails to implement it). Fixed and works in both browsers now.
- Created a Megaman X1 Password Generator. It's incomplete and only supports bosses at this time.
- Simplified the FAQ Page
- Links Page
- Added a new Tails Archive button
- Updated the url to Sonic Squared.
- Added a new Feedback and Support category on the Tails Archive Message Board. FAQ, Tutorial Feedback, Requests, and the Test Board were moved into it.
Jan 24th
- Created a Test Page.
- Tests to see what browser versions support document.createElement() are being done. This is for development of the Battle Cards on the Tails Archive Message Board
- Testing is near complete. For those browsers that failed (Safari on Mac), I'll have to code defensively to maintain compatibility. Volunteers and participation has been very helpful in speeding things up.
- Links Page
- Added Prower Power
- Moved sites
- Bluehog's Projects moved and has been renamed to Bluehog United
- Spectorial Prisms
- Tails Zoom
- Removed sites
- Cursed Dreams removed (inactivity)
- Fox Lee Studios removed (went down)
- Tails Corner removed (inactivity)
- The updates on this page are now listed using the international date format. The Other Updates pages will follow next time (lots to do)
Jan 16th
- Downloads Page
- Filled in all file sizes where they used to have question marks
- Removed a few old unlinked to files
- Fixed the link to the Mascots. The new ones were uploaded but the links were never updated.
- Made directories for mascots, mugen, theme, etc to organize the files.
- Made a css file to be shared by the Downloads Page and Utilities Page
- Fixed a bug with the shortcut keys in Kitsune Lights. It had an old id.
Jan 10th
- Made a S3KC Beta Editor
- Removed the images that the original editor had.
- Added full support for Sonic 3 save files.
- The editor can now write a customized file for you to download using PHP
- heavily optimized the page with javascript loops. The size dropped from 21.1 kb to 4.80 kb!
- Changed the Battle Cards layout on the Test Board of the Tails Archive Message Board to the smoothed out version as favored in the poll.
Jan 4th
- Tails Adventure Password Generator
- A hole in the GUI was found. Checking the Remote Robot without having Poloy Forest Beat would inform the user of the problem and wouldn't let you check it. But that didn't stop them from checking it, then Remote Robot, and then unchecking Poloy Forest. Items like that are not checked in both ways to prevent invalid passwords from being produced.
- All alerts saying you can't check an item until some other item is checked are now replaced by a confirm prompt asking if you want to check the other item. If that other item isn't checked, then the current item requiring it won't be either.
- For all associated items in these prompts, the item it speaks of will have a yellow background around the checkbox while the prompt is up. It is removed after the user makes a choice.
- The table cell colors have been made brighter. It makes them easier to read and gives it an opaque look.
- Megaman X2 Password Generator
- Fixed an indexing bug. If it had to reset the X-Hunter stage values (if you had them wandering the map and all Mavericks beaten), the values would be set to 0 but the checkbox for Zero's part on the resetted X-Hunter wouldn't be reenabled.
- Removed a few debugging functions. If a problem occurs in one of the functions, an immediate error will be shown rather than showing off the default value. This saves space and I'm confident that there is no need for the extra debugging info now.
- Added a newer logo for Sonic Stadium. It's a Tails logo.
